How did you hear about Holly Douglas Boudoir? Invited to the group on Facebook.
Why did you choose Holly Douglas Boudoir for your session? Hearing about everyone’s experience and how upbeat and positive Holly and the entire staff were, coupled with my own experience with conversations on Facebook and lives, lead me to choose them for my session.
What made you decided to take the leap of faith and do a boudoir session? Positive comments from Holly and many others that had me feeling good along with the i’m not getting any younger thoughts. I finally felt like I could do the session and not be the worst client she’d ever had before.
Were you nervous about the shoot beforehand? If so, what were you most nervous about? I was so nervous I was almost sick. I was twrrified of being the worst client she had ever worked with. I was also terrified of being a flop, not able to do the poses, not being seen as beautiful or sexy, about my body type and size, etc. I was terrified of the entire experience until it was happening.
Did you become more comfortable after the session started? If so, what helped to relax your nerves? Ta resounding YES! Everyone was so amazing! The intimate setting, few people, the jokes and laughter and quirky attitudes and sense of humor, while still providing guidance, helped me to immediately feel calmer and allowed me to relax. Everyone was so “down to earth” you couldn’t help but feel comfortable.
What was your favorite part of the experience and why? The laughter and comraderie were my favorite parts. On a more service oriented level, the massage. After all that posing, it was needed!
How did you feel during your session? I felt on top of the world. I went from feeling frumpy, middle age, and overweight to a curvy, beautiful, and desirable woman.
Describe how you felt when you saw your images for the first time. I cried. It was me but it wasn’t me. It was amazing to see what Holly saw through the lens.
How has your relationship with your body changed since your session? I have a new respect for my body. I know it’s capable of so many things and now I can see myself how others do. I now see my body as something beautiful, not something to be ashamed of.
What would you say to people who say they can’t do a boudoir session because they are too shy, nervous, etc? Just do it! You will be so glad you did. It is completely worth it. You are completely worth it. If you keep saying when i lose another 5. 10, 50 pounds, time will slip away and you’ll never experience the profound sense of wonder at seeing yourself through someone else’s eyes.
Anything else you’d like to add? I started out doing the session in memory of my husband and plans we had made. It ended up being for that but so many more reasons. It allowed me to begin to forgive myself for neglecting my body and to start loving my body again.
